The last buff on my buff list (or debuff if I happen to have one) shows up 2 or even 3 times on my frame, and after counting down to 0 it just stays there.

This is caused by a bug in Blizzard's secure aura routines, and we're stuck with the problem until they fix it.

The following thread had a similar, but slightly different, issue which is also caused by the same bug. If you're showing weapon buffs or the consolidated buff button, you may be able to avoid the problem by creating a second buff window just for the weapon/consolidated buff buttons.

Weapon buffs are displaying ok. It is the presence of weapon buffs (or the consolidated buffs button) in the same window as non-weapon buffs that is causing the problems for normal buffs and debuffs.

A buff may appear to be displayed on top of another buff, or you may see faded or duplicate buffs. Both of these issues will occur at the bottom of the buff/debuff list. Blizzard's code isn't properly hiding some non-weapon buffs when the number of buffs/debuffs decreases and the window is configured to show weapon buffs (or the consolidated buff button).

There are two ways to avoid the bug until Blizzard fixes it. You can either use non-secure buff buttons (a new option in CT_BuffMod, but you won't be able to cancel buffs in combat, and you won't be able to cancel weapon buffs at all), or use one window for secure weapon + consolidated buffs, and another window for secure normal buffs + debuffs.
