G'day all, I'm hoping that you can help with a question I have about Import Settings.
I have two WoW accounts. I've setup a "perfect" UI [grin] for me on one account. I'm so happy with it, I've used the setup on all my toons for that account. Now for the question (I'm sure you've all guessed what it is by now) ...

How can I import those settings into another account?

Thanks in advance, regards ... Jan

Addons cannot access the saved settings that belong to a different WoW account. If you want to be able to access them from inside the game, you will need to exit the game and then copy the files and folders from one account's folder to the other. After doing that you should be able to log into the game and import the data using an addon's profile/import mechanism.

The first time you log into a WoW account, the game creates a folder for that account which will be used to store all of your key bindings, macros, addon settings, etc. This folder is found inside the "Account" folder, which is located inside the game's "WTF" folder.

For example, if your account name was "Abc", then you would find the account's folder at the following location:
"World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\Abc"

If you get a second account called "Def", when you log into the game it will create the following folder:
"World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\Def"

Once both folders exist, exit the game and you can then copy all (or some) of the files and folders from your first account's folder ("Abc") into your new account's folder ("Def"). Next, log into your new account and create a character.

At that point you should be able to use your addon's profile/import features to copy settings from one of the characters whose files you copied over from your first account's folder.

If the addon you are using doesn't include a profile/import feature then you will need to locate the addon's saved settings file in your old account's folder, and copy it to the corresponding spot in your new account's folder. If the addon stores all character specific settings in the same file, then you may need to edit the file after you've copied it, and change the character names at the appropriate spots in the file.

Here's a brief description of the folders that you'll find inside the "Account" folder:

"World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\account_name"
This folder contains files used to store global key bindings, global macros, and configuration data.

"World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\account_name\SavedVariables"
This folder contains files used to store global addon settings. Note that some addons may save character specific settings inside these files as well.

"World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\account_name\server_name"
There will be one folder for each server that you have created a character on.

"World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\account_name\server_name\character_name"
Within each server folder there will be one folder for each character that you created on that server. Inside this folder you will find files that pertain to this character only (character specific key bindings, chat settings, configuration data, frame positions, and macros).

"World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\account_name\server_name\character_name\SavedVariables"
This folder contains files used to store addons settings that pertain to this character only. Note that some addons don't use these files to store character specific settings (they may use the files in the global "SavedVariables" folder instead).
